Our Story
Our History
In 1957, a group of Florida Sheriffs got together to discuss a need they saw in their communities. Young boys all over the state were getting into trouble with law enforcement. It was becoming apparent that these youth had no one in their lives to offer love, respect, and stability.
With $5,000 and a big dream, this group began a risky endeavor that would grow into something truly incredible: a home for boys who needed a family and community of supporters to help them grow into lawful, resilient and productive citizens.
Over 67 years later, the Youth Ranches is a statewide network of residential campuses and summer camps offering nationally recognized services to at-risk youth.
Our Mission
The mission of the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches is to prevent delinquency and develop resilient, productive, and law-abiding citizens.
Riding Ranchers practice their choreographed routine at the Boys Ranch. The Farm Program is a great way for Ranchers to learn how to ride horses and care for animals. This job teaches responsibility, integrity and the importance of a strong work ethic.
Standing on the banks of the Suwannee River, Sheriffs and citizens from Live Oak considered the site for the Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch.

The vision of the Florida Sheriffs Youth Ranches is to develop empowered young men and women who face life with direction, ability, and hope.
